I was just looking at the sponsored icons myself and I can't see a way that they could look good at all. In my view, we should just remove the icon entirely and make the "Sponsored by" text box visible when viewing the page, which inexplicably it isn't at the moment.
I don't really think that icon benefits either visitors or sponsors (as I'm betting not many average people are aware of the hovering to see the alt text, and the information isn't available in the server page itself). Maybe a sponsor here can correct me, but I personally removed all the "Sponsored" text from my servers and typed a little something in the description instead. Makes it look a bit better.
