I'd say no, as archives are always there, no matter if your a current
subscriber or not. Thats the point of an archive.

Not to be rude, but I think this issue is being taken far more serious
then it should be in this instance. Public mailing lists are just that,
public.

People who are paranoid can use a list by list email. IE
pete.green-opennic AT example.com - Plenty of people do this.
