Umm...the wiki database *is* the central repo, at least as far as
T1/T2 registrations are concerned.

I don't think you understand. I'm talking about user details. Think WHOIS data. Of course the DNS data itself is replicated, but that's not what I'm talking about at all.

I'm not suggesting the TLDs be administered by a single source. I'm suggesting replication of the user records for any TLD, presumably to a central opennic server/repo. In other words, the TLD owner would still maintain them, but if they blew up / disappeared / were unresponsive, there wouldn't be a total loss of that data.
