Yes, any TLD can be offered like newTLD by ICANN, even if it's included in openNIC. What happens then? For example, what will occur if ICANN receive an 'official' .free or .oss TLD registration request?

I'm new in openNIC project but i think that is's very difficult for openNIC to coordinate whit ICANN. ICANN has their own registration policies, then in every moment can exist a conflict with ICANN.

If we can't register .eh TLD because is an offical (unused) ccTLD adn we can't register .eus because ICANN has receipt a a request to that newTLD (http://icannwiki.com/index.php/.eus), we can register .ek with openNIC; but what will occur if in some time, months or years ICANN decide to register .ek like oficial newTLD?

What we can do? what TLD recomend you? For us is very important .eh TLD (historically basque country has demandad tish TLD to us) but if they can be a problem, we can request for .eus or .ek

Personally, I think that Western Sahara never will use .eh TLD... ;-)

Hi,

Hi,

I think it isn't really an option to use an existing ICANN TLD, if it's used or not, because IMHO OpenNIC wants to be compatible with ICANN.

But ICANN also thinks about offering TLDs like .free within its "newTLDs".
