What about .ek TLD? There isn't any .ek code in ISO 3166-1 or 3166
-1 alpha2; then, there won't be any conflict now or in a near future.

Historically, two-letter TLDs have been assigned as ccTLDs. Regardless of what two letters happen to be unassigned, I don't believe it is a good idea to assign them. IANA has adopted codes from ISO 3166-1 as two-letter ccTLDs, and there's nothing stopping the ISO from assigning EK to a new fledging nation.

I am not opposed to the idea of apolitical region-centric TLDs. I am opposed to adopting two-letter TLDs for them.
