I have to agree.

When the website was being designed, and I remember commenting on irc that I thought it was okay for a rough draft. I I didn't think it was the final version.

I also agree, I if you want more people to join, it has to be kept simple. I the useopennic website currently does this very well.

I'm sure there must be some graphics artists out there in the opennic community. The combined with some good css3 and you're ready to go.
