IRC is more universally available...  I can sign in at work as well as at home.  I could even get it on my phone.  And god forbid you set up a video conference system -- Do you really want to watch me get ready for my shower in the evenings?

I would encourage you to do that! Sounds excellent. I can't of course vouch for how much it would be used, but it has potential.

I think the core members prefer I.R.C. though I may be wrong?

Coupled with a P.R. team etc, or at least the working groups, OpenNIC could as you say move forwards in leaps and bounds.

If there were perhaps regular meetings, say once a month or so, and people could 'drop in', provided there was a dedicated chair person etc, there could well be interest. I guess it's a risk, from the point of view of the person putting the effort into setting up such a system.

So I'll give it my vote, anyone else think this could work?
