It's funny, because although I personally cringe at the idea of too
many subdomains, I posit that

1. ICANN is doing it anyway, and they'll only make it available to
those who can put up big money.

2. There's no way non-technical people will see the point in an
alternate root unless we can give them something they can't get
through ICANN.

3. Non-technical people are the key to giving this project any kind of
real-world traction.

we could have a blog where we can post the ideas, something like Sourceforge for OpenNIC...

but where the users who post the ideas could post if they can cooperate to develop the idea...
or their knowledgement about programming.

At the very least, I've been operating with the above assumptions. I'm
open to invalidating them, though.
