If they're being "good neighbours" the new gTLD operator would at the very least devise a system to resolve collisions but I doubt they have any intentions of being thus.

That's not a bad idea if someone wants to try it.  Most likely your
response will be 'deal with it', but if someone who can tolerate that
sort of thing wanted to look into it, that might not be a bad idea.
