Suppose I can’t disagree with you there. In my opinion, OpenNIC seems to operate on a basis of “common sense” where there’s no real policies, but every member has certain expectations people need to meet to even be considered. Too many reasonable proposals fail on technicalities or because they don’t meet some invisible standard, which is having a noticeable impact on our progress.

I’m mostly fine with our existing policies, which is why I generally don’t deal with them. I’m guessing the reason my proposals seem extraordinarily large or overreaching is because lately I’ve been trying to codify these community “expectations,” in a sense, creating policies where none officially existed before. But in reality I think most of the policies I’ve passed were in effect already, at least in an unofficial sense. Except before, people would simply vote “no” with no explanation, without being able to point to an expectation they had.

My hope is that the proposals I’ve passed and I’m planning for the future will prevent some of these issues, especially with newer members. Time will tell if this is a worthwhile cause.

Happy New Year,

Jonah

It seems your proposals are always about the organization and changing how discussions should progress, how votes should be counted, etc. Not that I don't agree with some of the stuff you've said, and have voted with you on some of them, but it always seems that you're trying to do major overhauls of OpenNIC, rather than work within it.
