Without responding to 90% of that wall of text, you don't seem to
understand what NXDOMAIN is.

NXDOMAIN means "I have not been told what that record contains."

The stability of the host that record USED to point to is utterly
irrelevant. "I know what that record used to point to, and I remember
it having pretty good uptime, so I'll point to it still even though
I've been told my the zone admin not to anymore," is misled and
utterly wrong.
