Hi.

unless Dmitry has something new to add other than just reusing stale idioms and saying we're afraid.
I see that my phrase touched you somehow. If it so - sorry, I don`t want that.
I think you need not forget about language barrier. I`am not native English speaker and so it's possible that my phrases are not so accurate and sound different on Russian language.

but Dmitry is the one proposing and he has yet to provide a convincing argument himself, instead just calling OpenNIC afraid.
Ole (vv AT cgs.pw) and Al Beano (albino AT autistici.org) wrote that, in short version it will sound likethis: .RUS (they call it ccTLD) is not good idea.
So I asked them "why?" and I don`t understand which arguments do you wait from me. I just want to hear their opinion more detailed.
Based on the answers of Al Beano and Ole they understand my question correctly.
Ok, I will try to rephrase "afraid" with google translate. Variants:
- What consequences do you expect?
- What consequences do you fear?
- What exactly do you dislike?
So "fear" is here again because on Russian it sounds like this but have a little bit another meaning inside the whole phrase.
And google translate is literal (verbal) as me.

I would therefore like to emphasise: an OpenNIC TLD with the letters .RUS is NOT a ccTLD, and should not be treated as such.
True. It`s kind of (looks like) it but not.

This looks like a good opportunity for OpenNIC not only to grow, but to grow outside of the English-speaking world. Content, people, content!
Yes. This is what I was talking about. OpenNIC need promotion and attract people to the project.

I know there are more ways to censor than by DNS, but if they use the DNS method, OpenNIC will be great to circumvent this method. DNS is used but they are using not only DNS. Dpi (Deep packet inspection) systems too. But they are expensive and not many ISPs can afford.
So DNS method is the most common.

I agree that parts of the charter could be worded better, but I think the .rus domain is a very good idea. I will continue wok on charter and after some time it can be, I hope, better worded.
Thanks for the support.
