The reason we allow the DNS hosting to be provided on the T1's is as a courtesy to OpenNic users. While many people have some resource available to host their website on, not everyone is able to provide their own DNS server to answer queries. If we were talking about millions of working domain names, then yeah that would certainly be a concern, but on OpenNic's scale, the additional queries barely make a blip on the bandwidth. If there comes a time when OpenNic grows enough that the T1's are no longer able to cope with the traffic from providing DNS resolution for our domains, we will probably start creating dedicated servers for this purpose, and still provide the service to our users.
